Note: Attempt any five questions in all selecting one question from each section. All questions carry equal marks.

Section-A

1. (a) Explain the working of CRT display device with a neat sketch diagram.5 marks

    (b) Suppose a video monitor has display area that measures 12 inches across and 9.6 inches high. If resolution is 1280×1024 and aspect ratio is 1, then find out the diameter of each screen point.5 marks

2. (a) What are the different ways of scanning in refresh type video displays ? Discuss the important characteristics of each.5 marks

     (b) Differentiate active and passive graphics devices and write two examples of each device type.5 marks

Section-B

3. (a) Write Bresenham algorithm to draw a circle. Clearly define each symbol/variable used in the algorithm.5 marks

    (b) What is aliasing ? Write an algorithm to reduce the effect of aliasing.5 marks

4. (a) What is the utility of filling algorithms ? Write step-by-step boundary filling algorithm and explain.5 marks

    (b) What is clipping ? Write a procedure for line clipping.5 marks

5. (a) What is view port ? How are the images displayed on the physical devices ? Write a procedure to implement view port.5 marks

    (b) What is translation ? Write matrix representation of 2D translation.5 marks

6. (a) Write a routine to perform clipping in homogeneous coordinates.5 marks

    (b) How is the window to view port transformation performed ? Explain.5 marks

Section-D

7. (a) How is the 3D transformation is different than 2D transformation ? Write different 3D transformation with their matrix/vector representation.5 marks

    (b) What is projection > Write a procedure to perform one-point perspective projection of an object.5 marks

8. (a) Make a comparison of 2D graphics and 3D graphics.5 marks

    (b) Write different types of planar geometric projections with their merits and demerits. How are the different planar geometric projections determined ?5 marks

9. (a) Explain the purpose of animation and discuss its merits and limitations.5 marks

    (b) Discuss the important hardware and software tools required for animation.5 marks

10. (a) What do you understand by hidden line and surface ? Write one method for detecting hidden lines.5 marks

      (b) What is rendering ? How do you create rendering animation ?5 marks
