(b) With examples illustrate the conversion of Decimal to Binary, Octal and Hexadecimal numbers.

2. (a) What is an algorithm? Explain the advantages and disadvantages of algorithm.

(b) What are the advantages of Grey Codes? Discuss their areas of application.

3. (a) Explain static dynamic RAMs. Discuss their merits, demerits and area of applications.

(b) What is memory controller? For what type of semiconductor memory is it used? What are its functions?

4. (a) Discuss the construction and working of hard disks. What do you understand by head crash?

(b) What is optical disk? What are the difference types of optical disks? Discuss their areas of applications.

5. (a) Discuss the various types of addressing mode which are usually provide in a microprocessor. Give suitable examples.

(b) What are RISC and CISC machines? Discuss their main features.

6. (a) Describe various registers which are usually provide in a microprocessor.

(b) Explain the following:

  2. Instruction formats

(b) Differentiate multiprogramming with multiprocessing operating system.
