AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ 3990X Processor-The World’s First 64-Core Desktop Processor use Socket sTRX4 (TRX40)

“One Processor to Render Them All”

On February 7th, AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 3990X is here to push the bounds of high performance computing like never before.

Features:
  • 64 Cores and 128 Threads
  • 88 PCIe® 4.0 lanes
  • Up to 288MB Cache
  • Quad-Channel DDR4 Memory
Specifications:
CPU Cores: 64
Threads: 128
Base Clock: 2.9GHz
Max Boost Clock: Up to 4.3GHz (Achieved by a Single Core)
L1 Cache: 4MB
L2 Cache: 32MB
L3 Cache: 256MB
PCI Express Version: PCIe 4.0
Memory Type: DDR4 (Quad Channels)
Memory Specification: 3200MHz
TDP: 280W
Max Temp: 68°C
Architecture: sTRX4 (TRX40 Motherboard)
Pros:

As we can see that this processor is the most powerful among all the present processors because of being world’s first 64 core processor.

This processor can handle many processes simultaneously.

This processor is best for VFX effects like Hollywood Movies visual effect produced by computer. This work’s process needs more cores and thread power to get real time output (Like Artificial Intelligence Model Training).

This process has already demonstrated its value to special effects artists for major motion picture studios.

AMD also introduced new Motherboards for Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Gen Processor known as AMD TRX40

AMD TRX40 Motherboard Specifications:
  • Quad-Channel DDR4 Memory with optional ECC support
  • A total of 88 PCIe 4.0 Lanes
  • Multi-GPU Support (AMD CrossFire and SLI)
  • Up to 12 native USB 3.2 Gen2 Ports (Superspeed 10Gbps)
  • Up to 4 native USB 2.0 Ports
  • Up to 2 x 4 NVMe Ports
  • Up to 20 SATA Ports
  • SATA RAID 0, 1, 10
  • NVMe RAID Support
  • Overclocking Support
  • AMD StoreMI Storage Acceleration Technology Included.
Cons:

First one disadvantage is that it is not for gaming (A user can’t afford it). It is too costly.

TRX40 Chip set Motherboards are too expensive.

Discrete Graphics Cards Required (Costly Graphics Cards otherwise system could be bottle-necked).

High TDP 280W requires more powerful PSU (Power Supply Unit)

It doesn’t come with any Thermal Solution (PIB). You have to purchase robust cooling solutions separately.
