  3. Time sharing system

2. (a) Explain Batch processing system and spooling with suitable example.

(b) Compare the directory and file system. Explain with example.

3. (a) What are the functions of process management?

(b)How do processes behave? What is the difference between and program?

4. (a) What is the difference between pre-emptive scheduling and time slicing?

(b) Explain various scheduling algorithms with example.

Unit-3

5. (a) Describe various features of memory management.

(b) Describe demand paging algorithm. How is it useful in management of memory?

6. Define deadlock in process management. Explain condition and prevention of deadlock.

Unit-4

7. Define resource allocation graph with suitable example.

8. (a) What is Segmentation? Describe advantages and disadvantages of segmentation.

(b) Compare the three page replacement algorithm namely FIFO, LRU and OPTIONAL over the given data set?
