1. (a) What are registers? Explain types of registers.

    (b) Draw and explain the instructions execution cycle with the help of an example.

2. (a) Describe the concept of pipelining and its basic structure.

    (b) Explain array and vector processor with example.

Section-B

3. (a) Explain Berkeley RISC I.

    (b) Explain micro programmed control organization.

4. (a) Explain memory reference instruction.

    (b) Differentiate between internal and external interrupts.

Section-C

5. (a) Perform the following binary subtraction using 1’s and 2’s complement method :

            (i) 111011 – 100011

            (ii) 101 – 0.101

    (b) Convert (DB)16 into decimal and (ABC)16 into binary.

6. (a) Carry out the following conversions :

            (i) (105)10 = (?)2

            (ii) (204)10 = (?)8

            (iii) (1011)10 = (?)16

    (b) Divide (10101)2 by (011)2.3

7. (a) Explain the role of DMA controller in DMA.

    (b) What are various modes of data transfer?

8. (a) Explain priority interrupt.

    (b) Explain Asynchronous data transfer.

9. (a) Explain use of macros in IO instructions.

    (b) How assembler is different from compiler? What are mnemonic code?

10. Explain any two of the following :

    (i) Assembly level instructions

    (ii) Program Loops
